It's been another busy few weeks at the Hackett house with concreting, excavation and sewerage work happening and new windows going in throughout the house.
Once again we called in some help from our mates, this time it was the team from Mr Pipes who helped lay the new sewerage pipes under and around the property.
It's THE Mr Pipes to the rescue with coffees!
The change to the look and feel of the house is already drastically different. Sure there's been no floor in much of the house for a little while and many of the walls are missing, but you can already see how much different the house is going to be when it's done.
So what exactly has been happening?
Adding waffle slabs
The owners wanted to improve the energy efficiency of the house from the ground up so we utilised a waffle slab which also has the duel benefit of creating a stronger build slab which is really important as it's on clay soil.

In the back section of the ground floor we've done quite a bit of reconcreting (check out the progress shot and final shot below)

You most definitely don't want to take ANY risks when it comes to termites, so we've completed a pre construction termite treatment around the perimeter of the house. (Red tape in photos)

Windows have arrived!
We mentioned in an earlier post that we were swapping out the existing windows with larger, double glazed windows and they’ve arrived. We can’t wait to get them in as it will start to change the space.
Windows - Can't wait for these beauties to be installed!
Do you remember what the backyard and side of the house looked like before? Well just look at it now! How much more open and practical is that space? Our team made light work of installing those concrete sleeper retaining walls.

With a new bathroom going in and the existing sewerage system definitely showing it's age, we called our mates at Mr Pipes to come in and give us a hand laying brand new pipes.
Here are some other photos from this weeks work.
Next week we'll be sharing the work we've been doing with reconcreting and installing the new windows.
